 A showcase REPERTOIRE THEATER COMPANY

The Seventh Street Playhouse- LLC, which was founded in

1997, is located steps from the Old Eastern Market in the

Capitol Hill District in Washington, DC, The Seventh Street

Playhouse is a small critically acclaimed non-profit

showcase ensemble repertory theater company comprised of

experienced actors, designers, directors, technicians and 

directors.  We are a very active theater company, having staged  160 shows since our founding, including 15 productions and 142 staged readings.  We average about 14 stagings per year.  We charge a nominal fee for our productions and a nominal fee for some of the staged readings, but most are performed as a matter of public service.  

Our mission is guided by a statement made by Albert Einstein: "There are two ways to live life. The first is as if nothing is a miracle. The second is as if everything is a miracle."


The Seventh Street  Playhouse boasts a resident company of 25 actresses, 27 Actors, and 26 alumni-actors who are still members of the company but no longer active.   


We are listed in the  Dramatists Guild Resource Directory.

Seventh Street Playhouse dramas are covered by the press, it's  work having been referred to over 2100 times during the past decade in both local and National publications.   These include Washington Post, The City
